Much of the book of Proverbs is written from the perspective of a father giving advice to a son. In Proverbs 31, the father instructs the son on what to look for in a wife. “An excellent wife,” he writes, “is far more precious than jewels.” Proverbs 31 depicts that ideal woman.
As I shared with our Cedarville students in chapel this week, if you’re a young man looking for a wife, Proverbs 31 shows you what to look for (but I’d advise against expecting perfection!).
For young women hoping to marry someday, it provides an example to try to follow.
But for all of us, Proverbs 31 challenges us with the characteristics of someone who fears the Lord and lives out the way of wisdom. Join the University family as we delve into Proverbs 31.
