Criminal justice professor Dr. Patrick Oliver has developed a biblical mentoring program for minorities aspiring to law enforcement leadership. His program has had a remarkable success rate, with all but two of 26 graduates promoted or appointed to a higher rank after entering the program, and 15 of them named CEOs of law enforcement agencies. His program was recently featured in an international publication for police chiefs
Dr. Aaron Lavender, Senior Pastor of Grace Baptist Church of Greater Kansas City, Missouri, and Vice President of Carver Baptist Bible College and Theological Seminary, was our featured chapel speaker during this year’s Martin Luther King, Jr., Day celebration on January 15. Before Dr. Lavender spoke, I challenged our University family to reject all forms of racism as an affront to the Gospel. You can listen to my remarks here. Immediately following chapel, we hosted a luncheon in honor of Dr. King and invited Dr. Lavender, along with area church and ministry leaders and Cedarville faculty and staff members, to enjoy a meal together. My hope is that such gatherings will help people of like mind and heart to see King Jesus glorified, to foster friendships, and to collaborate in the great work of advancing His Gospel.
